At release, as one of the smallest PDAs in the market, the Oregon Scientific PD293-512 offered "no-frills convenience".

This PDA is about the size of an identity card. Yet, it still had many of the typical functions that a conventional personal digital assistant (PDA) has. These include standard functions like a phone book, notepad and calendar, among others. Although these functions may not be as extensive as in a full-featured PDA, they were marketed for users who require a no-frills way of organising their lives. The Oregon Scientific PD293-512 could be synchronised with a PC to transfer data.
