The CIT-101 was a DEC VT-100 clone made by C. ITOH in Japan, this was not just a clone of the machine technically, it looked almost the same as the machine it copied.

It has dual ports on the rear of the machine, the top one for a printer terminal, and the bottom is the actual comm port, holding a combination of keys down switched between them.

Despite being a clone of the DC VT-100, technically the machines inside are rather different, and the keyboards are not compatible, it has been described as not so much a clone, but a superior implementation of the original.

The main benefit of the CIT-101 was price, being considerably cheaper than the DEC machine, it ran on the 8085 processor.

Our unit was manufactured in August 1983. Although it was made in Japan, the address on the label reads:
C ITOH Electronics Inc
5301 Beethoven Street
Los Angeles. CA 90066

The keyboard reference number is 8316328.
