The Intertec Superbrain was first sold by Intertec in 1979. It was advertised as an "All in ONE smart portable lightweight console (45 lb [20 kg]): Just add a printer!" The all-in-one console featured a 12-inch screen, 80-key keyboard with numeric keypad, and dual double density 5-inch disk drives. The machine ran the operating system CP/M and was somewhat unusual in that it used dual Z80 CPUs, the second being used as a disk controller.

The Superbrain II was released in 1982 and featured a faster and enhanced disk operating system, new video visual attributes and better graphics capabilities. There were several variants of the Superbrain II:

  • Jr - double density disk drives, total storage capacity of 328K
  • QD - quad density disk drives, total storage capacity of 680K
  • SD - super density disk drives, total storage capacity of 1.5MB

Price of the various systems in 1983:

Superbrain II Double Density - $1970
Superbrain II Quad Density - $2376
Superbrain II Super Density - $2684

Manufacturer: Interac Data Systems
Date: 1982
