This hybrid calculator has the standard four arithmetic functions, plus square root, percentage, and memory functions. It also has a soroban (a Japanese style of abacus) attached, the soroban being quicker for simple arithmetic such as addition and subtraction, while the calculator would be used for multiplication and division.

This example in our collection was purchased in August 1983 in Kyoto by Dr W J Herbert during a congress of the International Union of Immunological Societies.
