This publication explains how to use the IBM System/ 360 Operating System to compile, linkage edit, and execute programs written in the IBM System/360 FORTRAN IV language. In addition, it contains information on program optimization, processing efficiency, extended error handling, and Assembler language subroutine lin kage conventions, A section on programming factors of special interest to users of the IBM System/360 Model 91 is also included.

This publication is directed primarily to program mers familiar 'ith the FORTRAN IV language. Previous knowledge of the IBM System/360 Operating System is not required.
