Second Edition (August 1976)
This edition replaces the previous edition (numbered GH20-9064-1) and makes that edition
obsolete.
This edition applies both to Release 2 of VS APL and Release 1 of VS TSIO, and to any
subsequent releases of either program product unless otherwise indicated in new editions
or technical newsletters.

This publication is an aid in evaluating and planning for the use of VS APL
and VS TSIO. It is directed to data processing system analysts and planners as
well as data processing executives. VS APL (Program Number 5748-APl) is
a program product that interprets and executes APL language statements.
APL (A Programming Language) uses well-known mathematical symbols, as
well as a number of special symbols to designate a multitude of simple and
powerful functions. VS TSIO (Program Number 5740-XR9) is a program
product that enables a VS APL user to access OS/VS data sets supported by
the Basic Sequential Access Method (BSAM), the Basic Direct Access
Method (BDAM), and the Basic Partitioned Access Method (BPAM).
