The Xerox Data Systems Sigma 3 was a mainframe computer in the company's Sigma range.  Earlier systems had the name 'SDS Sigma...', as the company was known as Scientific Data Systems before a buyout by Xerox in 1969.

Confusingly, the numbers of the Sigma systems are not in order.  The 16 bit machines were the following:

  • Sigma 2 (1966)
  • Sigma 3 (1969)

The 32-bit machines were the following:

  • Sigma 7 (1966)
  • Sigma 5 (1967)
  • Sigma 6 (1970)
  • Sigma 9 (1971)
  • Sigma 8 (1972)
  • Sigma 9 model 2 (?)
  • Sigma 9 model 3 (1973)

This manual is for the Sigma 3.  It covers the basics of the machine and more complicated instructions and commands.
