The RM Nimbus PC286 was part of the M Series of Nimbus computers, which  consisted of both 286 - 12Mhz and 386 - 16/20/25Mhz machines. They were based on the MCA bus as used by IBM PS/2 machines.

This machine has 1 Mbyte of RAM, and is fitted with a MCA Ethernet card which allows it to boot off out RM NET Network, as a workstation. It also has an internal 30Mbyte HDD so it can be used as a standalone machine. The HDD connects directly to the MCA bus as the drive has an integrated MCA controller card fitted to its base. the motherboard contains a FDD controller and is fitted with a 1.44Mbyte FDD.

It has VGA graphics built onto its motherboard, and also has the optional high resolution mono graphics card fitted into an MCA socket.
