DEC releases the PDP-1, the first mini-computer

DEC released the PDP-1 in November 1960, its first mini computer. The PDP-1 cost from $125,000 to $250,000 depending on the configuration, which made it one of the most inexpensive computers of that time.

The chief designer was of the the PDP-1 was Benjamin Curley.

A total of 53 PDP-1 machines were built. As late as 1970, Digital Equipment Corporation reported that all 53 were still in operation. The last PDP-1 was built in 1969.
