A Locked Door. A Dead Man.

And 12 hours to solve the murder.

The player acts as a detective investigating a supposed suicide. They meet other characters and must examine their motives, as well as evidence in the environment.

Infocom had become well-known for the success of the first two Zork games. Deadline was to become the first of what they became well known for - text-based adventure games that came packaged with a generous amount of 'feelies'. These have numerous benefits - acting as a kind of copy protection, as the essential information on them could not fit inside the game. Also, they were difficult to reproduce, and so playing without them would be difficult. The game was very well received by critics.
