Rise of the Robots is a one-on-one fighting game released for numerous home systems.
The game featured seven robots of varying design with the single player forced to choose the protagonist ECO35-2.  In two-player mode more robots were available to select.

Rise of the Robots was heavily promoted in the run up to launch with much attention focussed on the graphics and Queen's Brian May's involvement with the soundtrack.
The game was critically and commercially savaged due to poor controls and boring fighting engine.  The fights lacked speed and special moves and looked prehistoric when compared to the likes of Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat.

There was a sequel released in 1996 called Rise 2: Resurrection, which was met with similar disdain.
