This book is for new and experienced CLIST programmers. If you are a new user of the CLIST language, read each chapter and try coding the examples. If you are experienced with CLISTs, read about the new features of the CLIST lan guage. To find out what's new, see the Summary of Changes that follows the table of contents. You should also familiarize yourself with the organization of this book. Then you'll be able to refer to the appropriate chapter when you have a question or want to refresh your memory. To use the CLIST language effectively, you should be familiar with TSO commands. Familiarity with the Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) is also helpful. For information about TSO commands and ISPF, see the TSO Extensions Command Reference and the ISPF books listed on page iv.
