all subsequent releases unless otherwise indicated in neweditions or Technical Newsletters. Changes are con
tinually made to the information herein; before using this publication in connection with the operation of
IBM systems, consult the latest IBM Systeml370. 30xx, 4300, and 9370 Processors Bibliography' GC20-0001,
for the editions that are applicable and current.

This book is for the system programmer who will install System Modification
Program Extended (SMP/B) Release 5 on an MVS system using a previous release of
SMP/E or System Modification Program Release 4 (SMP4).
Note: Do not use this book if you are installing SMP/E for the first time with an
MVS Custom-Built Installation Process Offering (CBIPO). Use the MVS
Custom-Built Offerings Planning and Installation manual and the CBIPO
related installation materials (RIMs) instead.
