Daley Thompson's Super Test 128
From the word go, Ocean Software were a great advocate for the 128K Spectrum, providing much enhanced versions of some of their classic games, they would be the first company to produce 128K only games.
This was a pack in game for the new Sinclair machine, along with the Never Ending Story.
The game expanded greatly on the 48K game, firstly this new version loaded in one go, eradicating the multi load of the original, although this was very lengthy, more events were added, another four to add to the previous eight, better sound effects, and the new AY chip of the machine was also used to produce a fair 8 bit rendition of the theme from Chariots of Fire.
For anyone who is not familiar with this type of game, the idea is to waqgle the joystick left and right furiously to build up speed in events such as rowing or running, then pressing fire at the right moment to perform a jump, dive, or throw in events that call for it.
This game and others like it caused the death of many a good joystick.
Pistol Shooting, Spring Board Diving, Tug o War, Giant Slalom, Rowing, Ski Jump, Penalties and Cycling are joined by the 100m sprint, Javelin, Triple Jump, and Hurdles for this expanded game.
