Commodore PET CBM 3008

The PET has a special place in the history of micro-computers, as it was one of the biggest sellers in the 1979 /1980 period, when computers were aimed at both the home and business market. Many people instantly recognise the PET as it stood out from the usual ' terminal plus box' computer.

The 3008 was a direct descendent of the 2001 (the German 3001 is in fact a rebadged 2001 with a different keyboard), has the same board as the 4000 series PETs but amazingly carries BASIC 2.0 and is apparently the identical dialect found in the VIC-20 and 64. The 3008 didn't last long, rapidly pulled for the expanded 3016 and 3032 which had 16K and 32K RAM respectively.

3008 series was released 1979 with CPU 6502 at 1MHz
RAM 8k (expandable to 32k)
Text 40x25 (black & white)
Integral 9" monitor

Our unit was very kindly donated by Mr John Yates
and has the reference 2001-8N which is the same as the Commodore PET 2001 with 8 KB RAM
