Halikan LA-30A Laptop computer
This is a brand page for the HALIKAN trademark by CHAPLET SYSTEMS INC. in Taipei.
A 286 portable similar to Toshiba 3200, but with backlit LCD instead of plasma and with battery pack, allowing it to work without power source for 1-1,5 hours (charging time: 3 hours when computer is off, 10 hours when on). It has ISA slots, but battery pack forced power supply to be external. It has 3.5" 1.44MB floppy disk drive and 40MB Conner hard disk. Graphics is also cheaper - It's CGA with Hercules compatibility, but LCD is not Hercules-compatible so only part of picture is displayed (Alt-left and right arrows scroll it).
Chaplet was Taiwanese computer manufacturer bought in 1999 by Toshiba. They released few notebooks with 286 and 386. Their last notebooks had 486 processors.
The LA-30A uses an Intel 80286 clocked at 12 MHz. The processor cooperates with the RAM memory with a capacity of 1 MB. External memory is the floppy disk drive 3.5-inch on the possibility of writing 1.44 MB of data and hard drive with a 3.5-inch discs with a capacity of 42 MB. Time access to the data on the disk specified by the manufacturer is 20 ms. Floppy disk drive 3.5-inch is located on the right side wall of the computer.
