This manual is a user's reference to the modular testbed, a software aid that enables program modules written in 1900 Series PLAN, COBOL or FORTRAN to be exhaustively tested.

The minimum configuration required to run the modular testbed is as follows:

A1900 Series central processor with 32Kwords of available core store, or 16K words if the overlaid version is used

1 card reader
1 line printer

The manual, intended for programmers writing program modules, contains a brief introduction to the concepts of modularity, to program testing, and to testing using the modular testbed. It contains reference information that will enable the user to specify testing requirements, and chapters on output and operating considerations.

Some of the facilities described In this manual will not be available in the initial version of the testbed; they will be available soon and are included here for completeness. The facilities concerned are two of the data directives, #SAVE and #RESTORE, and the initial control directives, #OUTPUT, #VOLUMES and #WORKFILE.
