The ElectroMusic Research (EMR) BBC MIDI Interface connects an instrument with a MIDI socket to the BBC User port and 1Mz Bus. EMR's Miditrack Composer and Performer packages were designed to work with it.

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a method of digital communication which allows MIDI-equipped instruments to talk to each other. When you play an instrument MIDI produces a set of binary coodes which correspond to your playing actions. These codes are transmitted down the MIDI cable and turned into actions by the MIDI interface in the receiving unit.
