This coprocessor works alongside an 80286 CPU to provide floating-point support. The XL was the second 287 model to be released and was introduced in 1990. Implemented in CMOS instead of NMOS, it uses less power than its predecessor. Internally the XL is actually based on the i387 core and therefore supports full IEEE 754 compatibility, as well being ~50% faster than the older 287 chip.

Date : 1990

Manufacturer : Intel

Format : Co-Processor
