**FULLY BOOKED** Electronic Dreams: How Britain Learned to Love the Computer - 22 October 2016
Description : Join Tom Lean, historian of technology and author of Electronic Dreams, for a nostalgic look back at how 1980s Britain got over its fear of microchips and learned to love the computer. In the early 1980s computers invaded British homes for the first time, as a wave of futuristic microcomputers, like the ZX Spectrum and Acorn BBC Micro, allowed millions of people to discover the world of computing for themselves. In this entertaining and lively presentation, historian and author Tom Lean will explore the landscape of technical change that emerged in 1980s Britain. The talk will be followed by a Q and A session and there will be opportunities to purchase signed copies of Tom's new book, Electric Dreams.
