Bug Your Bedroom - 06 April 2017
Kids, are you tired of people (that is, parents and younger siblings) entering your room without permission? With a Raspberry Pi and some clever Python code, you can put a stop to that!
Come along to this fun workshop and learn how to create the beginnings of an intruder alarm to protect your bedrooms from being invaded by parents and siblings. We'll teach you how to write code that detects the time at which someone entered your room, how long they stayed there and then, to gather more evidence, maybe connect a camera module to catch the culprit red-handed!
This workshop is aimed at children aged ten and up and is ideal for children at the KS3 and KS4 levels. Please note that all under 14's must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
No soldering will be required. A rudimentary understanding of the Raspberry Pi would be helpful.
The fee is £12 for workshop participants, whether an adult or a child. Accompanying adults are charged our standard entry fee of £8.
Although the booking is for a specific time slot, entry to the Centre is permitted all day. The Centre is open from 10am to 5pm.
Tea, coffee and snacks will be available from our Pac Lunch Shop. There's plenty of seating for parents :)
