Queen Elizabeth II opens Information Age gallery at the Science Museum

On 24 October 2014, the Science Museum opened a major new permanent gallery, Information Age. The Information Age gallery presents a history of modern communications, from the telegraph to the smartphone.

Queen Elizabeth II opened the gallery by sending her first tweet, 76 years after her first visit to the Museum. The tweet read as follows:

"It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R."
