The Archimedes VIDC based graphics system is unchanged from the original A300 to the A5000. By 1992 the graphics capabilities of a standard PC had overtaken the Archimedes range with resolutions of 800x600 in 256 colours or 1024 x 768 in 16 colours.

The State Machine ColourBurst graphic accelerator provides improved graphics performance for a wide range of Acorn Archimedes computers. With ColourBurst the 24 bit palette is fully programmable from 16.7 million colours rather than being restricted to 4096.
