Description :

An Introduction to the Rust Programming Language

Jonathan Pallant, Embedded Systems Engineer at 42 Technology, talks us through the highlights of Rust - Mozilla's new fast, reliable and productive systems programming language - and how it's shaking up all areas of software development, from web-browsers to microcontrollers.

You'll learn how to try Rust in your web-browser, and see why it's trying to replace the C programming language as the default choice for systems programming.

Later, you will see an example of a home-brew 'retro' computer, with a ROM written in pure Rust, featuring VGA output, PS/2 keyboards and a simple three-channel synthesizer.

The event will start at 7PM prompt, and will last approximately an hour, with questions and demonstrations afterwards.
