The Z80 Softcard was the first piece of hardware released by Microsoft. It was a coprocessor card that enabled an Apple II to run the Digital Research CP/M operating system. This gave the owner the ability to run a wider range of business applications. Originally released in 1980 and sold for $349. The card sold extremely well and was eventually replaced by the Premium Softcard IIe.
