Report (written by TR Thompson?) of a visit by Lyons staff, headed by George Booth, to meet the team behind and see the early stages of work on EDSAC at Cambridge – 'the pilot Electronic Machine'.

The work of Douglas Hartree and Maurice Wilkes is described, and the plan to 'loan an electrician' from the Lyons staff discussed and considered of benefit to both parties (see p2).

Research comments: Interesting to note that Lyons staff consider Professor Hartree and Dr Wilkes to be pragmatic and cooperative and to be keen to use the time they have to achieve a machine that works, rather than one which demonstrates scientific principles. This is what cements the fledgling relationship between Lyons and the university and therefore makes LEO a possibility. (LM)
