Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer
Create stylish homes for your Animal Crossing friends!
Happy Home Designer is not a typical full Animal Crossing 'life simulator', and was seen by some as a test for the new furnishing and housing options to be available in the following game to Animal Crossing New Leaf, also on 3DS.
Gameplay consists of your own customised character working for Tom Nook to help customise Animal Crossing resident's homes, offices and other public buildings interiors and exteriors. Although not a fully fledged main series title, the more indepth customisable options for arranging furniture and ease of use system that were introduced here, were adapted for the next title; Animal Crossing New Horizons released on the Nintendo Switch in 2020.
Supports special Animal Crossing Amiibo cards as well as the Animal Crossing Amiibo figurines originally designed for Animal Crossing Amiibo Party for the Nintendo Wii U. These cards and figures would utilise NFC (Near Field Communication) to summon specific Animal Crossing characters so the player could customise a building for the character. This function would need an extra adapter for use on 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS consoles, whereas, the NEW 3DS and NEW 3DS XL would have this function built in. Cards or figures are placed on the reader or console, respectively, when prompted, and the character in question would appear in game for the player to then design a building for the character.
