Intel releases the Pentium chip

Introduced on 22nd March 1993, the Pentium was the fifth generation of x86, or 80x86, microprocessors from Intel.

The Pentium contained 3.1 million transistors and was the first superscalar x86 processor, capable of executing multiple instructions in a single clock cycle.
