P1/3 - Bakery Valuations: Estimated Tape Lengths and Diameters

Home > LEO Computers > Lyons Electronic Office (LEO) Archive > CMLEO/DC - David Caminer Papers > Working Files > LEO Jobs - L3 Bakery Sales and Valuations > P1/3 - Bakery Valuati ... Lengths and Diameters

Memo from D.T. Caminer to T.R. Thompson sending attached estimates for tape lengths and diameters for Job P1/3. Includes a note with different types of data tapes and measurements in inches.

Research comments: In typical Lyons style, senior managers on the LEO I project (the computer was still very much an experiment at this stage) had to think of everything, including the diameter of the reels of punched tape required for input and output to and from the computer. Lyons' own workshops constructed the equipment required such as the tape reading table referred to here. These tables can be seen on later photographs of LEO I. (LM)
