the changes made to this manual. Technicalchanges or additions to the text are

This edition applies to Version 1 Release 3.5 of MVS/System Product and to all
subsequent releases until otherwise indicated in new editions or Technical Newsletters.
Changesare made periodically to the information herein; beforeusing this publication in
connection with the operation of IBMsystems, consult the IBMSystemj370 Bibliography,
GC20-0001, for the editions that are applicable and current.

This publication lists and describes:
• The completion codes issued by the MVS/370
operating system when it uses an ABEND
macro instruction to terminate abnormally a
task or address space.
• The wait state codes placed in the program
status word (PSW) when the system begins a
wait state.
• Causes of uncoded wait states.
• The wait state codes placed in the last four
bytes of the PSW when the stand-alone dump
program (SADMP) enters a wait state.
• Causes of loops.
