Gaming Night Organiser

Retro Gaming Night and Family Gaming Night are two important social events for the museum. They have a great following and we see lots of familiar faces each time. The two are very similar: Retro Gaming Night is aimed at adults where we have a bar serving alcohol, food and strictly retro gaming, whereas Family Gaming Night is aimed at the whole family and includes modern gaming and finishes earlier.

Each event runs around 4 times a year and we are looking for someone that can help plan and organise the event, and help run them on the night.

We are looking to make the events a bit more special and need your help in doing so. Our existing volunteers can take care of all of the gaming technicalities, but we need you to make them more of an occasion and add a little bit of 'showbiz' to them. Can you help us?

You would not be organising the events in isolation. There is already a crack team assembled that make the nights a success! We just need you to pull us all together and some sparkle!

Both of these events are fundraising opportunities for the museum which is a registered charity. We would like to run raffles and and create other opportunities to raise funds through these events. We would like to also add an soft educational dimension to our Family Gaming Nights. This may involve inviting people to run short gaming related workshops within the event.

Requirements

A Big Thank You!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Adrian Killens for organising all of the Retro Gaming Night since we have opened nearly five years ago! He has, and continues to be a key volunteer at the museum but with a young family on the way, Adrian is taking a well deserved break but will be pleased to pass on the knowledge he has built up over the years. Thanks Aidy! We REALLY appreciate your help!

Come and Join the Team!

We are a relaxed and welcoming team. The working atmosphere is fun but professional.
Tea and coffee is available for free from our 'Pac Lunch Shop' and as a volunteer you are
welcome to all of our special events for free.

Logistics

To be able to do this role you will need to be able to get to the museum in Cambridge.

Time

As the planning can be done online from home any time that works for you works for us. We are open from 10am to 5pm, Wednesday through to Sunday if you'd like to come in and work with our staff and volunteers to chat through ideas. The events themselves are evening events (finishing at 10pm and 12pm respectively) and you would be required to be there and help make it special!

How to Apply

As with all of our volunteer roles, if you are interested in volunteering your time and playing a vital part in our museum, email us with your details, what role you'd like to apply for and what makes you ideal for this role.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you ...
