On 28th June 1914, the heir to the Austrian throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie, were assassinated at Sarajevo, Bosnia in the Austria/ Hungarian province. The assassin was a Serbian nationalist called Gavrilo Princip. What followed was a chain of events which inevitably led to the First World War...
