PowerMac4,4 - Model A1002 - EMC 1955

The eMac, short for education Mac, is a Macintosh desktop computer made by Apple Inc. It was originally aimed at the education market, but was later made available as a cheaper mass market alternative to Apple's second-generation LCD display iMac.

The eMac design closely resembles the first-generation iMac. Compared to the first iMac, eMacs feature a PowerPC G4 processor that is significantly faster than the previous generation G3 processors, as well as a 17-inch flat CRT display. Unlike the iMac G3, however, the eMac is not meant to be portable as it weighs 50 pounds and lacks a carrying handle

The Apple eMac G4/1.0 (ATI Graphics) features a 1.0 GHz PowerPC 7445 (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit and a 256k on chip level 2 cache, 128 MB or 256 MB of PC133 SDRAM, a 60 GB or 80 GB Ultra ATA/66 hard drive (the low-end M9252LL/A revision introduced October 22, 2003 has a 40 GB drive), a tray-loading "Combo" or "SuperDrive" drive, ATI Radeon 7500 graphics with AGP 4X support and 32 MB of DDR SDRAM, as well as support for AirPort Extreme (not pre-installed) in an all-in-one case with a 17.0" (16.0" viewable area) CRT display (resolution support up to 1280x960 in 24-bit colour).

The eMac G4/1.0 (ATI Graphics) shipped with an ice white Apple "Pro" keyboard and mouse, and could be configured with either MacOS 9.2 or MacOS X 10.2* as the default operating system. Custom configurations also were available.
