The Sirius 1 was distributed in the UK by ACT. It was first released in 1982. It was designed by Chuck Peddle, who was the main designer of the MOS Technology 6502 microprocessor and the early Commodore Pet.
The Sirius 1 was based on the Intel 8088 processor and featured 128K of RAM. It came with twin, built-in, 5.25-inch floppy drives as standard, as well as a 97-key keyboard with separate number pad, and 11-inch screen. It ran CP/M-86 and MDOS operating systems. It originally sold for £2,395 in the UK.
The Sirius 1 sold much better in Europe than it did in the US, which encouraged ACT to develop and manufacture their own computer, which led to the development of the ACT Apricot.
The Sirius 1 was later rebadged and sold as the Victor 9000 as a business machine. Both were made by Victor United, which was previously called Sirius Technology.
