Acorn launches the BBC Master Compact

The BBC Master Compact was quite different from the rest of the Master series having a 3 box design, with a monitor, keyboard, and base unit. However, the base unit only contained the disc drive and power supply, with the motherboard found under the keyboard.

The Master Compact has a 3.5" disc drive and ADFS as standard, with room for a second 3.5" drive in the disc unit. Unlike the rest of the Master series, the Master Compact does not have cartridge slots.

At launch, the Master Compact entry system cost £441.25 (inc VAT).
