Sinclair chose the Spanish company Investrónica who were a subsidiary of El Corte Ingles, a department store group, to be their Spanish distributor.

Investrónica helped adapt the ZX Spectrum+ to the Spanish market after Spain's government introduced a special tax on all computers with 64 KB RAM or less, they had also introduced a law which obliged all computers sold in Spain to support the Spanish alphabet and show messages in Spanish.

There are differences to the ROM, and the keyboard characters are of course all in Spanish.

In 1985, Sinclair developed the Spectrum 128 (code-named Derby) in conjunction with Investronica, forging further their strong links with the company.

The picture on the box is of a UK Spectrum, the keys on the actual machine are quite different.

Many different agreements were needed to bring the Sinclair products to Spain, for example to bring the ZX81 to the country, to publishers Dorling Kindersley to convert the Spectrum manual to Spanish, along with the User Cassette, and Psion to publish their ZX81 Chess game in Spanish.
