Marketed by ACT in England as the Series 800, and in America as the Computhink Minimax II.

The ACT Series 800 was advertised as being an easy upgrade from Commodore's PET range, and was manufactured in the US and sold as the Computhink Minimax II. the BASIC was similar, and could do much the same graphics, though this was not a simple task, as the screen memory was very different.

PETsoft was one of the first UK software companies, and it's founder Julian Allason was responsible for bringing the machine to this country.

Despite being a technically good machine, which was received favourably by the computing press, it sold modestly, it would eventually lose out to the Victor 9000, which was a rebranded Sirius 1, which even managed to outsell IBMs 5150 in Europe.

ACT wrote some very good software packages for the machine, ably supporting the computer for the European market.

Manufacturer: Computhink / ACT
