The Oric Microdisc was the official disk drive system for the Oric-1 and Oric Atmos 8-bit home computers. It offered a faster and more reliable alternative to cassette storage, which was the standard medium for most home computers of the early 1980s.

The system used 3-inch floppy disks with the following specifications:

  • Formatted capacity: 160 KB per side
  • Tracks: 40
  • Sectors per track: 16
  • Bytes per sector: 256
  • Data transfer rate: 250 Kbit/s
