The Commodore 8050 is a dual-unit 5.25" floppy disk drive for Commodore International computers. It uses the IEEE-488 interface common to Commodore PET/CBM computers.

The 8050 is a single-sided drive using a quad density format storing approximately 0.5 megabytes per side. This drive is not dual-mode, so it cannot read or write disks formatted by the more common lower-capacity Commodore 1541 or Commodore 4040 models.

The 8050 series of disk drives were equipped with either Micropolis or Tandon mechanisms, with the “M” suffix in 8050M indicating a Micropolis drive.

This example in our collection, together with a Commodore PET 8032SK and Commodore 4022 printer, was very kindly donated by John and Chrissie Biddlecombe. The serial number is 04904.
