The Micro Solutions Backpack CD-Rewriter is an external CD-ROM drive system. It connects to a computer via the parallel printer port which was common on PCs of the time.

The Backpack allowed users to create data CDs, burn audio discs, and rewrite CD-RWs.

Backpack hardware features include:

No cards to install - plugs into USB port or parallel printer port
Supports both USB and Hi-Speed USB 2.0
Built-in buffer underrun protection
3 drives in 1 - can be used like a hard drive, backup device, and CD-ROM
Perfect for notebooks and desktops
Smart pass-through port allows you to print without disconnecting the drive when attached to the parallel port
Front loading motorized tray
Can be daisy chained with other backpack drives on the same parallel port
Lightweight universal power supply
Uses industry standard Universal Serial Bus (USB) and Micro Solutions patented parallel port technology
