Sony releases PlayStation in Japan

3rd December 1994 In March 1994, Computer Gaming World magazine reported a rumor that the "Sony PS-X" would be released in Japan "before the end of this year and will retail for less than $400". The PlayStation was finally released in Japan on the 3rd of December 1994. It took nearly a year for Sony to release PlayStation worldwide, with the North America and Europe launches taking place in September 1995. Related information: Image:
