61706 Stan Evans with LEO I (c1956)

Description of Photograph

Digital copy of a photograph of engineer Stan Evans standing at the engineer's console of LEO I.

This image appears in the interactive plan for our Virtual LEO I installation, p101.

Research comments: This photograph gives a superbly clear view of the engineer's console. Note that it is now fully populated (compared to earlier photographs) with all the control interfaces the engineers needed to monitor to keep LEO I running reliably.

In Stan Evans' reminiscence he says he was a maintenance engineer on LEO I at Cadby Hall until he was offered the role of commissioning and looking after LEO II/9 at Ilford Limited (in Ilford, East London). (LM)

Provenance
Donated to the LEO Computers Society archive by Stan Evans.
