DEC releases the PDP-7

The Programmed Data Processor-7 (PDP-7) was a multipurpose digital computer designed for engineering and scientific use in laboratories and communication centers. Created by DEC, it was the third of their 18-bit machines, along with the PDP-4 and the PDP-9.

In November 1964, DEC began delivering the first PDP-7 production units to customers. At launch, it cost $72,000 which was relatively inexpensive for the time.

A total of 120 PDP-7 machines were sold.
