61877 LEO I Control Desk (1954)

Description of Photograph

Digital copy of a photograph of the Control Desk, or Operator's Console, for LEO I.

Caption: 'Control desk. September 1954'

This image appears in the interactive plan for our Virtual LEO I installation, p96.

Research comments: This is a fairly early version of the Operators' panel, and it is not yet fully populated. As with almost all of LEO I, the engineers built the panel themselves from scratch. Photo 25 in the interactive plan shows the console at an earlier stage of development. Photo 2 in the plan is later, and better shows the console situated within the wider peripherals area of the calculator room. (CM/LM)
