Michael Dell founds the Dell Computer Corporation

On 3rd May 1984, at the age of 19, Michael Dell started a company called PC's Limited with capital of $1000. Operating from his dorm room at the University of Texas at Austin, Dell built IBM PC-compatible computers from off-the-shelf components.

In 1987 the company changed its name to Dell Computer Corporation, and then Dell Inc. in 2003.

Based in Round Rock, Texas, Dell became one of the largest computer manufacturers in the world.
