The Panasonic LF-7300B is an external SCSI optical drive designed for 5.25-inch magneto-optical (MO) disks.

Magneto-optical discs use a ferromagnetic layer sealed under a protective plastic coating. To write data, a laser heats small spots on the disc so a magnet can change their polarity. To read data, a low-power laser detects differences in reflected light from the surface.
