E-Waste Art Workshop & Exhibition - 11th of October 2025!
|
Description : Celebrate International E-Waste Day with a hands-on art workshop and the grand reveal of our e-waste sculpture! Explore the possibilities of DIY e-waste crafts using discarded electronics, wires, circuit boards, and forgotten computer parts. Under the guidance of our workshop artist and volunteer team, you’ll create your own unique piece of e-waste art—whether it’s CD canvas art, a futuristic sculpture, or e-waste jewellery! This event will also feature an exhibition of a sculpture made by Joanna Mamede from the museum's own electronic waste symbolising the Broken Tech, Broken Earth project. This sculpture will be complimented by a large scale photography print made by Charlotte Hull. Smaller versions of the photography print will be available for workshop participants to take home with them for free! Please also bring along any e-waste you have in your homes to the museum. We have collaborated with Retapp, a local Cambridge based recycling start up and they will be collecting any e-waste from visitors so that they can recycle them responsibly. From handheld devices, earphones, cables, TVs, kettles, batteries... We know it is hard to recycle e-waste for many visitors and we hope this event can be the opportunity for you to clear out your electronics safely whilst also visiting the museum. If you are bringing e-waste to the museum please book a time slot with the link below: Select a Date & Time - Calendly Signing up for a slot will mean you can have a dedicated time to speak to Retapp and get your data deleted from smart devices, they will offer money back for any items they can resell. A reminder to all donors to please remove all iCloud and Google accounts from devices first. Unfortunately, locked devices can't be resold and would have to go for recycling only. 🌍 Promote sustainability through creativity All materials provided – just bring your imagination! Dates & Times: 11/10/2025 10am-5pm Come craft with us! Suitable for all the family. The museum will still have all its usual exhibits available to enjoy. To make this event as accessible as possible we are making just a small charge for tickets. Please buy a ticket for every person, whether adult or child, who wishes to attend. Tickets include access to the museum for the whole day.
Remember - All proceeds go to support our Computing Museum! |
