|
Description : Get your FREE tickets and explore the legacy of the Cambridge tech boom at the Centre for Computing History!
The historical legacy and present day influence of technological innovation in Cambridge (also known as the Cambridge Phenomenon) has been told many times since the 1960s. However, the stories told are usually those of the tech companies and their founders. Now we want to highlight the forgotten stories of the local community. We are curious to explore how all the technological developments that have made Cambridge famous have impacted current residents. We are recruiting local people to share their stories and perspectives on the tech boom. We would like to hear from the entire network of people that shaped the success of Cambridge based tech. This includes programmers, designers, HR professionals, cafe workers, taxi drivers and anyone that feels their work was impacted by cluster of tech companies in Cambridge. We are looking for:
This exhibition will explore tech made in Cambridge and explore the Cambridge Phenomenon not as a list of companies, but as a lived network shaped by people, place, and shared experience. We will also provide the opportunity for visitors to share their reflections on the day of the event. Each participant will receive a £25 voucher as a thank you for sharing their story. Please contact BTBE@computinghistory.org.uk if you feel that you could contribute to our exhibition! We will be providing FREE entry to the museum. Please pre-book your tickets!
This event is part of the Broken Tech, Broken Earth Project where we explore the social, historical and environmental impact of the technology with the local community. This project is externally funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund which is part of the Museums Association. Suitable for all the family. Tickets include access to the museum for the whole day.
Remember - All proceeds go to support our Computing Museum! |
