Bug Your Bedroom with Scratch and Pibrella - Thursday 19th February 2026

Description : Come along to this fun workshop and learn how to create the beginnings of an intruder alarm! This will help to protect your bedrooms from being invaded by parents and siblings!
We will be using the Scratch programming language on a Raspberry Pi to control a Pibrella 'hat' that will sit on the Raspberry Pi. We will start by flashing the LEDs on the Pibrella and then continue to add a buzzer and a tripwire to create a basic intruder alarm! The session is aimed at children aged 8 - 11 years and is ideal for upper Key Stage 2 students. This workshop session is priced at £14 per participant and includes entry to the museum all day! For participants aged 14 or under, we require an accompanying adult to attend the workshop alongside them. Accompanying adult tickets can be purchased for the normal museum entry price of £12 and include entry all day. Please note that we will be using our classroom kits for the session and you will not be able to take these away at the end. Date: Thursday 19th February 2026
Time: 2 pm - 3:30 pm This workshop will start at 2 pm promptly, so please arrive at least 15 minutes early. Although the event booking is for a specific time, entry to the Centre is permitted all day. The Centre is open from 10am. Snacks will be available from our Pac-Lunch Shop. There's plenty of seating for parents :) Spaces for these exciting hands-on events are limited, so booking is required to ensure your place. Payment is taken by PayPal immediately. Please print a copy of the receipt that is displayed at the end of the payment process and bring it with you as your e-ticket. Cancellations: Due to the limited number of places available for this event, we are unable to refund tickets when cancelled less than 7 days before the event.
