Telex is a telecommunication system that allows text-based messages to be sent and received over telephone lines. The term "telex" may refer to the service, the network, the devices, or a message sent using these machines. These machines were common before fax and email to send messages, invoices, quotes, etc.

The Merlin Cheetah Plus is simple and easy to learn. It enables the user to do much more than you can with a basic teleprinter. When a message is typed on one machine it can be transmitted to distant machine and printed there at the same time. You type in a message using the keyboard and its displayed on the screen. Incoming messages sent from other subscribers may also be displayed on the screen.

There are three models in the range:

  • The Standard
  • The Single Disc
  • The Double Disc Versions

Manufacturer: BT
Date: 1986
